The innovation that Leonardo will present at the Italy Pavilion will include the technologies and products of the new frontier of the aeronautical industry, with special attention to the revolutionary tiltrotor AW609, designed and manufactured to obtain an effective synthesis between the operational versatility of helicopters – through their vertical take-off and landing capabilities – and the performance and comfort of airplanes.

Leonardo’s participation in the Expo will also reflect its expertise in Space exploration through distinctive technologies like its atomic clock – a uniquely precise instrument worldwide which is also the heart of Galileo, the European global navigation satellite system – and the robotic drill which will be taken to the Red Planet by the ExoMars mission – the ESA-Roscosmos programme with the support of the Italian Space Agency, ASI – that is scheduled to take off in 2022 to analyse the surface of Mars to the depth of 2 metres to find traces of past or present life.

To the Italy Pavilion, Leonardo and its subsidiary Telespazio will also bring the contest #T-TeC, an open innovation initiative dedicated to students and researchers around the world with the aim of promoting technological innovation in the space sector among the younger generations.
