On December 15, 1964, the Italian adventure in space began on board a Scout 4 from the US base of Wallops Island in Virginia. On that rocket there is in fact the first San Marco satellite, in the control room to manage the entire phases of the launch is the Italian team that gave life to the mission. Italy thus becomes the third country in the world to put a satellite into orbit in full autonomy, after the USA and the USSR.

The Italian space therefore comes from afar, but above all it looks far away. To the Moon and Mars, but also to commercial space in low orbit, exploiting decades of research and development that have made our country one of the few in the world to possess the capabilities of the entire space chain, from the carrier to the satellite or space structure to be put into orbit, probe to be sent into deep space.

An Italian adventure made of genius and intuition, humanity and passion that from 1930 onward, from 'Air City in Guidonia"" a small base in the outskirts of Rome, reached for an extraordinary excellence.
