An extraordinary comparison opportunity only a few days ahead of the opening of Expo Dubai. This is the essence of the Forum titled “Beauty in Architecture Connects People” thanks to which Mondadori Media and INTERNI, Gold Sponsors of the Italy Pavilion, gave voice to the key players of the Exposition in a forum of debate on the major themes of the upcoming Universal Expo.
After the opening remarks by Gilda Bojardi, Editor-in-Chief of INTERNI, and a presentation by the Italian Commissioner General for Expo Dubai, Paolo Glisenti, the floor went to the architects and designers of the pavilions of some of the principal Participating Countries and of the Thematic Pavilions at Expo Dubai on sustainability and mobility.
The debate was opened by the Art Director of the Italy Pavilion, Davide Rampello, who made an overview of the peculiar features of Beauty, the key focus of our Country’s participation in the Expo.
The next to speak were the two architects who designed two thematic pavilions at Expo Dubai: Andrew Whalley, Chairman of the Grimshaw Architecture Firm, narrated the genesis of the Sustainability Pavilion.
Gerard Evenden, Senior Executive Partner and Head of Studio - Foster + Partners, revealed new details on the Mobility Pavilion.
The comparison of the pavilions of Participating Countries was opened by Italo Rota, co-designer with Carlo Ratti of the Italy Pavilion, who stressed the reusability of the Italy Pavilion at the Universal Expo.
concept was further expanded by Carlo Ratti, who spoke of circularity.
Happiness and the contribution of architecture in the pursuit thereof was the focus of the presentation by architect Teemu Kurkela, Founder and Creative Partner - JKMM Architects and the designer of the Finland Pavilion.
Christian Tschersich, Head of Projects - Laboratory for Visionary Architecture Berlin and designer of the Germany Pavilion – told how his firm architecturally developed the idea of Campus at the base of Germany’s participation.
Lastly, a zoom onto the Russia Pavilion. Architect and designer Sergei Tchoban, Founder and partner - SPEECH architectural office, explained how lines – abstract elements – were used in the structure to visually explain the concept of connection.
