It will be the beauties of Dolceacqua, of the Abbey of San Fruttuoso and of the Royal Palace of Genoa to represent the Region of Liguria at the Italy Pavilion at Expo Dubai, through the films shot by Oscar-winning film director Gabriele Salvatores.
The president of the Region, Giovanni Toti comments as follows: “With our presence at the Italy Pavilion, we intend to underscore our participation as the protagonists of the great collective narration of the Country, concentrated on its beauty.”
Toti goes on to reveal some of the details of Liguria’s participation: “Our attention shall be especially focused on the yachting industry so as to best represent and support our presence in the ‘blue economy’ in a strategic area of the global market.” He concludes: “Liguria’s presence is thus the sign of our Region’s firm will to turn page on a season that turned out to be decidedly more difficult than others with a view to building a new, and in a certain sense unprecedented, phase of growth and development.”
The Regional Councillor for Tourism, Gianni Berrino spoke along the same lines: “We, of the Liguria Region, decided to join this initiative because we believe that the Universal Expo in Dubai, the first to be held in an Arab Country, is a great opportunity to also launch our region as a new tourist destination. The aim is to give an even greater international connotation to an economic and employment sector that is strategic for our Region.”
