The Commissioner’s Office for Italy’s participation in the Dubai Universal Exhibition proposes stories from its partners describing how Italy and the entire world are coping during the current health emergency: on the possible solutions and the potential scenarios for the successive phase, in the period leading up to the Universal Exhibition.
For sectors that include research, culture, economics, information, technology, universities, agrifood, etc., we propose a series of contributions affording us an insider’s view of how professionals in each of these sectors are adapting their work in a context that has changed so rapidly and the implications that lie in wait.
Stefania Giannini – Assistant Director General – UNESCO
“On July 24 we celebrated International Education Day of the United Nations and no-one could have imagined that a few months later one billion and five hundred million students from 188 countries all over the world would have had their schools and universities forcibly shut down due to the pandemic. UNESCO responded immediately by creating a global coalition to provide families and teachers with support, guaranteeing a fundamental right to education.”
Stefania Giannini, Assistant Director General of the United Nations Organization for education, science and culture, gives us her perspective: “I hope that on the next International Education Day, perhaps in the Italy Pavilion at the Dubai Expo, we will have been able to imagine a better society with education at the centre of the new community”.
