The preparations and challenges of Expo 2020, which is less than nine months away, were the focus of the first meeting in Dubai of the Steering Committee of the organisers and 192 participating countries, including the Commissioner for Italy’s participation, Paolo Glisenti.
The Steering Committee represents countries of all the five continents. It is made up of 30 members and will remain in office until the end of the Expo in April 2021. The committee will meet again periodically in Dubai to coordinate and supervise the Exhibition’s organisational aspects in relation to the Emirates organising body – the Expo Bureau – and the Bureau International des Expositions (BIE).
Besides Glisenti, the committee also includes the commissioners of 7 other European countries: France, United Kingdom, Finland, Holland, Czech Republic, Serbia and Lithuania.
