The economic, social and environmental aspects of sustainable development will form the focus of the scientific partnership between ASviS and the Commissioner General’s office for Italy’s participation in Dubai Expo 2020.
ASviS will collaborate in the programming of events of the Italian pavilion at the Universal Exhibition, which begins on 20 October 2020, and in the first quarter of 2021 will organise a major conference on sustainable development. The announcement was given by ASviS President Pierluigi Stefanini in his introduction to the presentation of the Alliance 2019 Report in Rome.
Speaking before an audience that included President of the Republic Sergio Mattarella, Stefanini and ASviS spokesman Enrico Giovannini explained how the Alliance’s participation in the Expo will help define an Italian and global strategy to develop the necessary awareness for achievement of the UN 2030 sustainable development agenda objectives.
In this perspective, Expo provides an ideal scenario.
The World Expo is indeed only one of the strategic development projects launched by the United Arab Emirates to promote diversification of the Federation’s "oil-based economic model" towards new sectors encompassing the economy of space, cyber security, life sciences, artificial intelligence, climate change and sustainable mobility.
Dubai Expo 2020 will also give significant space to mobility issues and related innovative logistics, transport and communications systems, and will similarly highlight the themes of accessibility, resilience and sustainability of natural, energy and water resources.
The presentation of the ASviS Report also included speeches by President of the Chamber of Deputies Roberto Fico, Minister for the Economy and Finance Roberto Gualtieri and EU Commissioner for Economic Affairs Paolo Gentiloni.
